Kindred Spirit and Member of the Club...

Decided to do a walkabout... quickly realizing my street shooting diminished a bit from inactivity.  Ran across this street shooter who quickly got into position to capture that decisive image.

Not my idea of a Creek...

When I hear the name of a place called Walnut Creek, I really don't expect to see concrete canyons... I guess this is civilization.

Can we go already !?!?

Waiting for the adults to finish eating is a challenge when you are young.

Tools of the trade...

For photographers, light is our friend and at times we need a bit of help getting light the way we want.  Always helps to have a model too!   Okay...my excuse to post another picture of Ashley.

And just one more...

I've been resisting and thought I may have finally gotten over the urge OR lust for... the Leica S2... (I know what you probably was thinking) (Sorry boys, she's spoken for).  One of the closing shots from my morning with Ashley at the Leica S2 demo was to finally take some model shots using that camera.  Thanks to the devils (they know who they are).... I'm back on the lust rut.

Ashley behind those shades...

It's that time of year where the weather outside isn't as nice and thoughts about photographing models have once again tempted this Street Photographer to do some indoor shooting.

The model pictured here is Ashley Brooke Mitchell (http://www.modelmayhem.com/ashleymitchell), a professional print and video model who gave me a few hours of her time today to kick start my model shooting craze once again.  THANK YOU to Ashley for a great session!

Swagger...

Some people walk and some people have a swagger when they walk.

Swensen's...

In 1948, Earle Swensen started this ice cream store in San Francisco.
Noted as close to homemade in ingredients and flavor, this store still exists.  In fact, this store can now be found all over the world.  The Swensen family sold off the name to a franchising company a few years back but held on to store number 1.  Do yourself a favor, go to Union and Hyde Streets (the cable car will stop there for you ) and grab a scoop.

Side bar note.... when I was little, this was the place to go on Halloween - they gave away free ice cream to us.  When I was older.... I tried to get a part time job there.

Computer Programmers alert...

The city just hosted the Games Developer Conference.  All I know is that I could tell that all of there folks are in the high tech world.  Okay... nerds.

Start or End of another day...

Hard to tell if this gentleman is going to work or going home.  Considering the demands of business today that forces us to adopt insane work habits, it's hard to say.  All I know is.... been there and (unfortunately or fortunately) still doing that.

It Started Again with this...

On this blog (http://stevefoonphotography.blogspot.com), a milestone of sorts has been reached.  Posting number 500.  After many years, I decided it was time to pursue something I started as a young child.  Photography.  With a brand spanking new Nikon (now in the hands of a very good high school sports photographer), behold image number 1 - just a plain old snapshot.  My thanks to all my readers.  I hope you have enjoyed the work and hope you will continue to follow.

Shooting from the hip...

One technique among street photographers is to shoot from the hip.  I realized later that this young lady had her camera powered on (lens cover retracted).  Perhaps she was getting a shot of me (too bad that her camera is now damaged beyond repair).

Ruined...

I Have the Important Job...

This family came walking up the street and this little boy had this city map held with look of purpose and dedication on his face.

Help me understand...

While having coffee at one of my spots, I noticed this young family coming in.  Sitting across the room, I noticed something.

Is this a new fashion trend?  Wear your jeans where the cut is so low that when you sit down, you expose your underwear and have a pair of hosiery over your underwear?  Can someone help explain?

Happiness is...

... a fully belly, warm sun, catching a nap and having someone to cuddle with.

Come here...

This little girl has a spirit all of her own.  Instead of hanging out with all of her school chums, she moved away to see if she could get one of the birds to come to her.

Is it summer yet???

It's February isn't it?  Isn't this the San Francisco Bay Area?  I expect to see a scene like this in Southern California, Hawaii or Florida.  This shot is from the archieve.  With temps in the 70's, I can't wait for the nice weather to return.

Shake down...

Seeing a car going through it's final shake down is fun. An identical car behind this one had a couple of engineer types who weren't too pleased that I was snapping photos.   Their fault for no camouflage.  A photographer by the name of Jim Dunne made a good living at this.  By the way... the car is now on sale.

Another perspective...

I just the love the contrasts.  Straight lines, arches, brick, steel, concrete, wood, etc...

Dude... chill...

The look on the face of the guy in the middle got me thinking of all the times where I was feeling the exact same thing when it came to waiting for Muni (mass transit in San Francisco) to arrive.

Coming soon...

During my periodic haircut today, my hair stylist (what happened to barbers?) asked me about offspring. Told her that my photos are my children.  My legacy.  My mark that I once was here.   She didn't mean anything by one of those "conversations" you have while sitting in the chair.  But talk about bad timing to bring this topic up.   All day today, Frank Sinatra's "It was a very good year" has been playing in my head.  A reminder to all my readers.... cherish each moment.

Just when I thought...

...that these antique street cars are moving pieces of history... behold, 21st Century controls.  Oh well.

Happy Valentines...

Hope that all of you had the opportunity to spend some time with a loved one or someone special.  Pet's are loved ones too !!

Sometimes just seeing people going off to work with a smile can make your day.

Not an iPad???

This is now a rare sight. Seeing head slightly down, arm bent into the position.  One would expect to see an iPad or Tablet in hand.  What a surprise to see it's a newspaper.

Another One Bites the Dust...

Another car company with a proud heritage goes away.  One of the first with front wheel drive, hatchback designs, ignition key in the center of the floor.  Once part of a proud Scandinavian auto industry which no longer exists.  The death of SAAB can also be attributed to how messed up General Motors was and still is.

Cars looking for a good home.  By the way.... sold AS-IS.... no warranty.

Enjoy it while it lasts...

Great thing about being a little kid is that dad is around to give you a lift.

Takin' a break...

Find a bench (which is a rare item in San Francisco), a little container of food, some sort of communication/music device and a good book.
