Guess....

Guess the Exposure, lens and camera used and get a "shout out".

I'm just going through withdrawls of not shooting as much lately.

Shoot it wide open...

Shooting "Street", you tend to just set it at the old saying of, "f/8 and be there".  However, so many people kept on telling me to shoot that thing wide open, for that is where this thing was designed to do.  So.... here ya go.

BTW... the winner of "Save the clock tower..." goes to Big Hary Monkey for the correct guess of the film "Back to the Future".

Name the movie where the title of this photo came from.

Things change...

For those of you who have been following my postings for the past year, I have tried to have something new at least a few times a week.  You may have noticed a change in the frequency of the posts and the inclusion of more items from the "archive"

You can't save time" is a phrase used in those time management / business management courses.  You only get 24 hours in a day.  You can't save it... you either use it or it's gone.  As much as I would love to make a living doing "shoots", the simple truth is that there is a "day job" that pays the bills and allows me to buy the "toys".

"Things have changed and therefore the frequency of new postings will be less than before.  "Shooting" is in the blood.  Just that it won't happen as often.  So... please "stay tuned"as "change is the only constant in the universe"

Attention to detail...

Another image from an era gone by.  Companies once created items they were proud of and had a flair for artistic elements.

The red elements in this photo is courtesy of the carpeting in the area.

What to do...

A question to all....
I need a title &/or narrative on this photo.  Just a serious case of writers block.  A shout out to the person who can come up with a creative narrative or title.

The Morning Paper...

We live in a world that is in such a hurry and we seem to have given in to the techno stuff world of smart phones, ipads, etc...

There is something really satisfying about sitting down on a nice day with this thing called a Newspaper or a Book.  Batteries and a readable LCD screen NOT NEEDED !!

Newspapers give you something a blog site, website or TV just don't seem to give.... some inteligent thought and hopefully good writing.  Do yourself a favor... pick up a paper someday and discover the rich tradition of journalism.

B-17 and Old Airplanes - part 4 & 5

Obviously you can tell how much I must like airplanes.  Car guys and airplanes just seem to go hand in hand.  These pilots are perhaps some of the luckiest ones around.  They are actually flying a plane of history.  Sitting in the seats where other pilots once sat and who had to risk their lives in order for us to live the lives we have today.

This maybe just another machine.  A machine of war perhaps.  There's no romance in war.  War is a demonstration of the failure of mankind.  But this posting is not to go into a debate over this.  Just watching this plane, a B-17,  and knowing that a similar B-17 plays a small part in my own family history... one just can't help to have a feeling that this machine should be respected and honored.

B-17 and Old Airplanes - part 3...

The Street Photographer in me had to capture something with people.  The crowd was made up mainly of men... lots of old men.  Regardless, airplanes fascinate as these two youngsters were glued to the fence.

B-17 and Old Airplanes - part 2....

There are only 11 of these left in the USA that can still fly.

B-17 and Old Airplanes...

There's just something special about these old airplanes that is just fascinating.  The roar of the engines and just more graceful.

Colors... part 2

Thanks to all who participated in trying to guess what the items are.  Here's the answer.

In April... Santa caught taking a nap with his purchases from Target.... and you thought he made all those toys.

Colors...

A shout out to the person who can identify what these things are.  I am so tired of the grey days lately...needed some color.

Working...

Although I consider myself a Street Photographer, I still have a love of working with models.

I Wonder Why...

That would cause a delay in traffic.

I'm making an official statement.... I HATE THIS WEATHER !!  If I wanted rain in June, I would have lived elsewhere.

Old Business...

Like most old buildings.... the painted signs from yesteryear seems to out live the business.
What once was a market is now a trendy restaurant.

There's a whole generation or two of people who never knew of the corner grocery store, the neighborhood candy shop, a real delicatessen, a diner (not some pseudo 1950 looking joint), a newsstand, etc...

These simple pleasures seems to be lost.  All I know is that I am really getting old.

I know I'm cute...

This little guy was lovin' every minute of the attention.  There's something to being cute and cuddly.
